I definitely recommend working here. My manager(s) are so amazing. They never budge at an opportunity to help others. The GM Liz is definitely one in 7.6 billion - one of (if not) the best manager I have ever had in my career. She treats her workers the same she treats her guest!
Honestly, I was only still coming here because how close it is to where I live, and a sunk cost fallacy over the points I have built up/being platinum. But screw it, I'm going to check out somebody else/online, another day of being treated like im an annoyance in checkout and I'm just not up for the coin toss this place is. So tired of being treated like I insulted someone in checkout.
I have such a love hate relationship with Ulta; besides the fact this place is expensive as hell in any visit, my experiences with the staff are always an extreme. The visit is either a "These are the nicest people ever" or a "Wow, the cashiers are being huge bitches again today". I swear, I think the cashiers are always so stand offish compared to the floor staff.
I went in October 27 for a morphe palette that was advertised to be released in store October 27. I got there when they opened and was not greeted when I walked in but stared at by the girl at the cash register. I said hi first and walked on. I walked past 3 associates who didn't offer help but I asked one if they had a palette out she went to the back to check and grabbed it from the back. I asked about a dif morphe palette as they said the station wasn't set up yet so the stuff was in the back. A different associate told the girl helping me to go back and look but don't go out of her way looking for it, opening boxes as such which I thought was rude because it's advertised to be out that day and I was a paying customer. The girl returned empty handed but they said a morphe vendor would be setting up the station that day or the next so I asked if I could write down my name and number and if they could call me when the brand was out. They took my info down. The next day I called them in the afternoon and they verified the palette was out smh. Customer service could be wayyyy better!
I love Ulta because of the selection and products. However, Ulta could really improve themselves on their employee education. Most of the time (but not always) I walk in knowing exactly what my skin needs and the shade I require. Recently I purchased the tarte shape tape concealer in a shade too light and gifted it to a friend, but returned to get the correct shade. When I was picking it up an employee told me I should be using a shade lighter, basically referring me to the previous shade I had purchased which only emphasized my deep under eye sockets and caused that area to look ghostly and lifeless. This example and the fact that half the time I walk in, after watching every beauty YouTuber rave about a product, the employee I speak to has never heard of it. Please educate your employees better on the products you carry and how the products work! Giving your employees updates on new products, how to classes and samples of what you carry what greatly benefit your customers.
Helpful staff. Appreciate higher end name brands offered along with median priced brands.
