The result of this rapid taper brought on severe dehydration and eventually altered mental status which logically happens with severe dehydration. Landed me in hospital. But I felt lucky to survive Dr Hansen’s poor treatment of me. The rest of my experience with him just goes downhill from here so I’ll spare the final negligence and poor diagnostics from the man. Glad he’s left Iowa Clinic “Pain Management” so no one else goes through similar situations!
Awful management of pain. I asked to either decrease or change from a rather high dose of a opiate med. I require an opiate to have any daily functioning. I had decreased in weight and the med felt too strong. Dr Hansen pulled me off that medication too fast which left me in bad withdrawals (no plan to get me through this just rapid decrease.) I felt punished for MY asking to decrease/change.
I have had several types of procedures at this clinic with Dr. Hansen. I find him to be an extremely intelligent man with great care for his patients. I have never had any sort of problem with Dr. Hansen or is staff. Some folks who have issues may not be compliant with the terms of their care, and love to take it out on the doctor.
We've been thru numerous surgeries and procedures with him and he's been very professional and accommodating. Do yourself a favor and judge for yourself.
He is a miracle worker. I would give him a 5 stars but it takes sometimes two weeks to get in.
Awesome, compassionate Doctor. My wife has been going to him for 3 yrs. Don't listen to the previous review. This guy would give the shirt off his back to get you some pain relief.
The Iowa clinic pain management dept will dismiss you as a patient for any minor issue. They won't give you any notice and they don't care if you have your pain medication or not. I went to fill my montly prescription and my pharmacy didn't have my medicine in stock, they were going to have to order it and it wouldn't be in til Monday. So I went to a different pharmacy, so I would have my medication, and the clinic let me go because of this. Then the clinic had the nerve to blame me and said they have "trust issues" with me. I have been at patient with them for 5 plus years, always passed my ua's, and never had any issues. I had a valid script, my PA gives me 3 months at a time. I was so upset and crying when then called me. They could of cared less!!!
