Doesn't even deserve a star. Worst service I've experienced in my life. Waited for one hour before someone was finally able to help me with my return. Everyone I talked to pointed me to a different section of the store.
Younkers has good sales. And offer bargain buys on their store brands. Only complaint is that items are very basic, not fashion forward. Lots of prints and solids in cotton. I'm a bit on the fence between 3 stars or 4. They seem to cater to senior shoppers.
Worst shopping experience. I waited in line to checkout at a register only to be told when I got to the cashier that they couldn't check my items out there and I had to go to a different counter. This happened 4 times before I was finally checked out at the "right" counter. I came back to this Younkers to return an item and had a similar experience. I waited in the customer service line only to be told to go to a different department, which sent me to another department, before FINALLY being able to make my return. This caused each trip to be at least 3 times longer than necessary. I know this is a loss prevention technique but somehow all other department stores manage without forcing their customers to walk in circles around their store, so I'll be shopping at Von Maur or Dillards.
I came to this store on Black Friday for the buy one get two free door buster of the Ruff-Hewn men’s clothing. I bought a men’s coat for $80 and two flannels for $60 each. I expected to pay the most expensive item and get the two cheaper items for free, as the signage stated. I was waiting in a line with about 5 people in front of me, with 2 cashiers, and it took 45 minutes to get through the line. I was being patient and finally when it was my turn to check out, the cashier named Narges was very rude to me. My total came to $80 and I paid that price. Once the transaction went through, she told me that i could not buy the items for $80 and insisted that there was something wrong. I explained to her over and over that the deal was that you could mix clothing for the buy one get two free as long as the two free items were that of equal or lesser value. She refused to listen to me and she called the manager to come over, who told me that there was no problems and that i was good to go. As the manager came over, Narges started helping another customer in line behind me instead of completing my transaction. I waited for someone to bag my purchased items and I was ignored. I was fed up with this poor customer service so i took my receipt and my clothes off the counter since Narges reused to help me, i was sick and tired of being treated poorly so it didn’t matter to me if i had a bag for my items or not at this point since i had my receipt. She then came over and realized that I was upset and told me she had to desensitize my items. She did this and bagged my clothing very slowly. Once she handed me my bag of items, she glared at me as if i were in the wrong and she and didn’t end our interaction with any kind of apologizement or closing statement that employees should normally do. I will never shop at this store again because of this awful experience.
Went to five different registers and no one was willing to check us out. Two people turned us away and said they were closing and to go find a different register. Expect to walk to multiple registers before finally being able to check out.
